Needing Hip Surgery
By Terrie Soberg | January 10, 2008
I received this email from Dad:
Some of you have been asking about my doctor appointment, so I will tell all. My left hip is okay, showing lots of space between the ball and joint. That might not be the correct description, but will have to do. (Cars have ball joints ;>)) Why does it click, I don’t know. My right one needs replacement, I saw the x-ray and it is bone grinding on bone. I have an appointment with a surgeon on January 21, who I am sure will say I need surgery. It must be pretty simple, in the hospital 3-4 days, therapy for 2 days, only for some people. Medical has come a long way, I had a couple of x-rays taken, went upstairs, the doctor came in and brought them up on the computer monitor. I used to wait a couple of weeks for the results.
I didn’t know how good I had it with my previous doctor. I had been seeing him since the early 1990’s and I could talk him into anything, which I did, especially on medication. It was a rude awakening yesterday though, he changed some and cut back drastically on a couple of others. I asked for an A!c and cholesterol blood tests, which is normally one vial, two at the most. They filled four of them this time and I don’t know why, but probably since I am new to the clinic and they only ask for minimal records from the old clinic. The results will be on-line, on MyChart soon, so I will know then. Well this is a little long winded, so I will quit.
Love, Dad
